Chairman’s Message

It is with great pride and pleasure that we submit the Self Study Report (SSR) of Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College for consideration by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). A co-educational constituent college of the University of Delhi, ARSD College was established in 1959 by the Sanatan Dharma Sabha of Rawalpindi. While the fledgling nation found its feet, the College too underwent upheaval and transformation. Yet, the ability to adapt while holding onto one’s cultural identity, built into its foundations early on, held ARSD in good stead. In the last five years alone, the College has gone from strength to strength, developing existing facilities to maximize their potential and keep pace with rapid shifts in the global economy. The College now has a Wi-Fi-enabled campus, an almost fully digitalized library, and is on its way to implementing more learner-centric pedagogic processes..

We are evolving into an excellent centre for research. Presently, apart from major and minor projects funded by various government departments and agencies, the, college has ten innovative projects and seven projects under star innovation projects funded by the University. We are the recipients of STAR COLLEGE status from the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, attesting to the high quality of work being undertaken on campus. Along with imparting a sound education in line with the demands of the international job market, we are also endowing our students with the professional and vocational skills necessary to succeed in life. In the pipeline is a Business Incubation Centre (one of the first of its kinds in the University) in collaboration with the Ministry of MSME, which will make entrepreneurs of our young stakeholders and create an ecosystem where they function as active creators of opportunities rather than mere beneficiaries. Also being set up is a local chapter of the University’s Skill Development Centre, under the auspices of the National Skill Development Corporation. Once established, it will provide a practical offset to the theoretical frameworks students are familiar with, and prove a valuable adjunct to their undergraduate education.

The changes in progress are indicative of a larger desire to join the global community of progressive institutions that perceive the College as a bionetwork. The creation of a synergistic universe is central to ARSD’s vision and mission, rooted as it is in the organic development and commingling of all of its diverse elements. Our motto, that enshrines the principle of joyful learning, visualizes the act of learning as an essentially shared one—inclusive, egalitarian, and self-affirming. It is one we hope to disseminate as widely as possible.

All these changes are indicative of a larger desire on the part of the college to join the global community of progressive institutions. Our motto, that enshrines the principle of joyful learning, visualizes the act of learning as an essentially shared one-inclusive, egalitarian, and self-affirming.
